FRITZ!Box answering machine configuration

It is possible to configure up to five integrated answering machines in the FRITZ!Box. You can switch answering machines on or off individually and each answering machine can be provided with its own configuration.

Add a new answering machine

You can configure an answering machine as follows:

– Click on “Telephony” on the FRITZ!Box user interface and go to “Telephony Devices”.

– Press “Configure new device”.

– Select “Answering Machine” under “Integrated in the FRITZ!Box” and then press “next”.

– In the operating mode, you can change the waiting time for the greeting, the duration of the recording and enter the name for the answering machine.

– If you want the answering machine to respond to certain numbers, select the desired phone numbers. If you assign a phone number to multiple answering machines, determine in the answering machine settings when which answering machine should respond. Should the answering machine respond to all numbers, select “accept all calls”. If the answering machine should only respond to anonymous callers, do not enable phone numbers and configure call forwarding for anonymous callers.

Answering machine configuration

The following settings can be changed as follows:

Select a greeting

– In the user interface, go to “Telephony” and then press “Answering machine”.

– Select the answering machine you want to configure and go to settings.

– In the “Settings for recording and greeting” section, click on the “Change greeting” button next to the appropriate announcement.

– Disable the option “Own greeting”

– Click the “Browse…” button and select the desired greeting. Press “OK” to save the settings.

Please note: It is important to know that custom greetings can be no more than 60 seconds long and must be in the following file formats:

– WAV format: 8000 hz, 16 bit, mono

– MP3 format: Fixed data rate, 128 kbit/s, 44.1 kHz, stereo

Send messages via email

– In the user interface, go to “Telephony” and then press “Answering machine”.

– Select the answering machine you want to configure and go to settings.

– Press “Additional settings” and in the “Messages” section, enable the option “Send messages via email” and, if necessary, enable the option “Delete messages after they are sent from the answering machine”.

– Then enter the email address to which the new messages should be sent.

– Click “OK” to save the settings
